WE’RE SEVENTH HORIZON!! IF WE HAVENT LEFT YOUR EARS BLEEDING, WE ARNT DOING OUR JOB PROPERLY.
    NO ID
No ID formed in 2008 but after a music style change and member changes, the band properly formed at the end of 2010, where they started creating Dance/Electronica/Rock music and began gigging. Since then the band has headlined Birmingham’s HMV Institute “The Library”, as well as performing at The Flapper, Birmingham’s O2 Academy 3 and The Asylum 2 venues also. After months of building up a reputation within the Birmingham area with their energetic live performances and their own unique mix of synth and rock, No ID have now recorded and released their first EP which is available free of charge on their facebook page.
    STRANGER IN DEATH
Started jamming in late 2009 but the band wasn’t complete until 12 months later when our epic search for a singer finally came to an end. Now it’s 2011, we have some awesome tracks under our belt and we’re ready to rock n’ roll!

    PRESSURE KIDS
Pressure Kids are five twenty-somethings hailing from the outskirts of Birmingham. Their main aim is to make music with pop-hooks, catchy melodies and tight instrumentals.

Pressure Kids are a refreshing response to the criminal lack of guitars in modern pop music and are targeting the mainstream pop-genre whilst jumping on nobodies bandwagon.

Lacking in ego and pretense, the band drive relentl…essly in search of perfect tracks, discarding anything that doesn’t make the grade. Their songwriting and musical mission statement is to get the audience dancing and raise smiles on people’s faces.

Solidifying their line-up in 2011 with talented, experienced musicians and a charismatic female lead singer, Pressure Kids have embarked on a gig-offensive, playing host to responsive and complimentary audiences. Working hard to secure gigs for the near-future, the band hope to draw on their experience and abilities to reach more people with their music.

Not afraid of hard-graft and brimming with enthusiasm, Pressure Kids have established a loyal following, amassing great support via their Facebook Page and other social networking sites. The band recently decided to thank their ‘fans’ by offering their first EP as a free download.

Dancing to the beat of their own drum, Pressure Kids are independent, exciting and definitely worth a listen.

Formed in the winter of 2010, ‘Capital Sun’ are a four-piece Acoustic rock band from Birmingham England. The band’s major influences are bands and artists from the late 60s early 70s, which combined with very current lyrical themes, Gives the band a pertinent sound to today’s listener. The band began as an acoustic duo called ‘Mute Existence’, with founder members Glen Boden (Acoustic Guitar & Vocals) and Andrew Smith (Electric Guitar). Over time the songs required a bigger sound. Andy started playing the Electric Guitar and two new members were recruited in the form of Luke Weston (Bass Guitar) and Chris Taylor (Drums). This is when ‘Mute Existence’ became ‘Capital Sun.’ A powerful, progressive and dynamic sound, combined with a charismatic performance that will always leave a crowd asking for more.

    ‘Capital Sun’ have supported the following acts;

‘Sound Of Guns,’ ‘The View’ and ‘The Enemy’

    DREAMERS NIGHTMARES
Dreamers Nightmares are a progressive alternative rock band from Birmingham. The band’s sound is relatively diverse focusing on contemporary pop song structures with catchy vocals, with an added excursion into the sounds of progressive bands like Jethro Tull and Led Zeppelin, with a dedication to ferocious rhythm and angular guitar riffs. The music remains commercially accessible yet exciting and …adventurous.
All five members of the band are in their twenties and have been working together since July 2009, although they have all played in many other bands over the past ten years. They have been playing shows in and around Birmingham, as well as making it to the Midlands Final of Surface Festival 2011 performing on the Main Stage at Birmingham’s O2 Academy. The band has gained a dedicated fan base and have had airplay on many Midlands radio stations. The new EP “Sail on the Waves of the Night” was released in May 2011.

FO FUM AND THE HEAVY SET
A couple of months back Mr. Fum put out a call, looking for The Heavyset. Seemingly within no time at all that call had been heeded and the band were assembled together in a secret location somewhere in the heart of Brum. Comparing influences, they found that they all liked The Pixies. Some of them liked Fugazi. None of them liked UB40.

With a brooding intensity and a rather strange aroma about …them they set out to make a racket most wonderful. Guitars were cranked, bass was fuzzed and drums were finely tuned. Determined from the offset, they worked like crazy, cranking out songs like billyoh.

Now, unfortunately tensions have started to set in, as will often happen with bands. Egos have erupted, tempers have flared and personalities have clashed. Insults, fists and tantrums have been thrown and yes, the police have been involved. For a while there it looked like the band may never get it together but now and with the help of several lawyers, the band have agreed to play a number of shows. Over the next few months they will begrudgingly get together in an attempt to rock any establishment that will dare to have them. So, come and see them whilst there is still time…

Danny Fury (guitar), Damo Ezekiel Holmes (vocals), Sam Ray (Bass) and Oliver Parker (Drums) are the core members that started the group in early 2009. The quartet cut their teeth playing in various rock/punk bands before coming together to create what can only be described… as something oddly complete. Also in the ranks is Sarah Townsend (flute).

Ferociously heavy yet wonderfully harmonic; the logical conclusion of a whippet-thin skinned, quick tempered environment and all those forced to dwell in one. Antlered Man offers a fusion of aggressive riff-driven guitar and delicate orchestral sounds, influenced by the likes of Melvins, Trail Of Dead, QOTSA, Dead Kennedy’s and the deadbeat hero, Doug Stanhope.

The Flapper Presents; Zico Chain | To The Bones | Isolated Atoms

“THE DEVIL IN YOUR HEART” is a high five to the inconsolable in all of us, a celebration of triumph and relief, born through the eyes and ears of three musicians who had to go there to come back. THE DEVIL IN YOUR HEART is the fist pumping new album from London alt-rockers, Zico Chain.

    ZICO CHAIN:

“THE DEVIL IN YOUR HEART” is a high five to the inconsolable in all of us, a celebration of triumph and relief, born through the eyes and ears of three musicians who had to go there to come back. THE DEVIL IN YOUR HEART is the fist pumping new album from London alt-rockers, Zico Chain.

THE DEVIL IN YOUR HEART is a self produced labor of love. Having given up everything to pursue the unknown, the band bedded down in various derelict buildings around the UK and began recording.

“We never went near a studio. We were sat in an empty house in winter, with ants everywhere and no heating, but our amps were still buzzing and we were talking about how we could find a way to record an orchestra” adds Chris.

The band realized every seemingly impossible ambition and went on to work with award winning string arranger Audrey Riley, who’s impressive resume includes collaborations with rock giants such as Muse and Foo Fighters.

The result is a self-made and self-funded lap of honor, an achievement of truly epic proportions. Armed with their hard earned formidable live reputation and their relentless DIY ethics, it’s almost impossible to imagine ZICO CHAIN not climbing to the greatest heights and beyond in 2012.

    TO THE BONES:

In a world where riffs are king and master, To The Bones are essential. Hailing from glamorous Bolton, the four-piece clash together a feral mix of hooks, melody and feedback, like The Pixies covering Motorhead, or Kyuss attempting a ‘pop’ record. A straight ahead nasty mix of dark and angry scuzz rock, the band return to the fray on November 22nd with the new ‘Astral Magic’ EP produced by Sean Genockey (Reuben, The Futureheads, Baddies).

“Marvellous urgency and intelligence – all layered fuzzy guitars, a pounding rhythm section, impassioned vocals and the unlikeliest hooks… To The Bones are sure to become a significant name in UK independent rock… Keep your eyes and ears open.”- Rock Sound Magazine

A bit about To The Bones – Having released a split single through Org Records at the start of 2008, To The Bones signed up with new label Medici Records in May. In July, the band released a double A-side made up of the scuzzed-up fuzzed-out melody of ‘Sonic Mammoth’ and the terrifying aural assault of ‘Sharkie’s Bone Symphony’. They received airplays from Zane Lowe and Bruce Dickinson at the BBC and were invited to record an Xfm session for John Kennedy. The NME, Rock Sound and The Fly gave them mentions – from out of nowhere had appeared a fearsome new force in rock. Even MTV2 noticed what was going on, playing the band’s video on 120 Minutes and Headbanger’s Ball. Having heard about the building buzz, producer Dave Eringa (Manics, Idlewild, Ash) offered his services to the band for free. In 24 hours, the band recorded and mixed their second Medici Records single. Entitled Rex, and released on September 29th, it’s a hypnotic, mesmerising blend of crushing riffs and tribal, chanted melody. It’s a song that demands an immediate re-listen – and then another, and another and another… With two new b-sides and featuring exclusive artwork by acclaimed comic book artist JackAdemus, it’s another signal of intent.

To The Bones then went on to release their 3rd single in April 2009 which was a specially re-recorded version of album highlight ‘Lips On Red’. They continued to tour and went on to play at the infamous Leeds and Reading Festival, Guilfest 2009 on the Rocksound stage and even opened for Eagles of Death Metal at Brixton Academy London….

    ACELDAMA

The Birmingham based, Aceldama, were formed with the ideology of producing song which combine infectious, harmonious vocals with crushing, yet groove laden guitar riffs. This gives the premise for Aceldama’s explosive live show, which produces audience interaction and high energy atmospheres. 2009 saw the release of Aceldama’s debut album – ‘Seduce, Deceive & Lead Astray’. This 10 track release se…t and the foundations for the band’s style, with heavy hard hitting melodic riffs, great underlying harmonies and powerful vocal lines. Key tracks from this album such as ‘Do it Again’, ‘Things will change’ and ‘The Last time’ have earned their place as fans’ favourites and also within the band, which can still be seen influencing current writing. Aceldama are earning quite a reputation in the Midlands and this has landed them slots at festivals such as Download, Metal Camp and Glastonbudget

2010 saw their single containing ‘Metal and Beer’ and ‘Breakdown’ hitting the airwaves, and these songs prove a force on CD as well as a staple part of the ‘Dama live show.

Aceldama have continued to grow from their original writings and are going from strength to strength, showing that they can keep up in the live music scene today. Anyone who has seen Aceldama live will understand what their live shows are all about. With an energetic performance, prominent audience interaction and a powerful stage presence, Aceldama is an act that won’t be forgotten easily.

2011 sees the departure of drummer Paul, but the introduction of Scott Denny and a new CD is promised in the opening months of 2012.

London based melodic-punks, Apologies, I Have None release their hometown-tale filled debut album on Monday 19th March.

Named after a line in a Grade song (‘The Tension Between Stillness And Motion’), the quartet, made up of Dan Bond (vocals/guitar), Josh McKenzie (vocals/guitar), PJ Shepherd (bass) and Joe Watson (drums), have spent the last few years honing their craft, releasing a series of EP’s and splits and touring with the likes of I Am The Avalanche, Hostage Calm, Samiam and Crazy Arm in the process.

Now, the time has come for their debut full-length, named as a nod to some of the album’s track titles and subject matter, ‘Holloway or Anywhere’, ‘The 26’ and ‘Sat In Vicky Park’, for example. Produced by Peter Miles (The King Blues, Tellison) in his secluded studio in Devon – ‘London’, is a collection of infectious songs about love, life, death and lessons learnt.

    SINCE MONROE

Starting back in March 2011, Andy Clifford and James Bradley had a musical vision to write music that was simple, catchy, riff driven and would reach out to a mass audience. In the short space of time since that first jam session they have snowballed with the help of Rich and Matt Tregortha, through various radio stations on digital and internet with their songs picking up a couple of accolades on… the way ( Track of the Week on Amazing FM’s Rock Show and Band of the Week on Noize Level Critical). They are about to embark on recording the debut EP which will be released on the bands own label (Younitee) and have a tour to back up the release when it hit’s the shops in March 2012. To quote Aaron Philips from Amazing FM’s Amazing Rock Show “They are tighter than an indie boys jeans and with a hook to die for”.
